Looking for details of this family and if Arthur did marry both these women???

Eliza Tweddall married Arthur Thomas Houfe Dec Q 1900 Thirsk.

Eliza Tweddall was born possibly Auckland, Durham Sep Q 1875. Arthur Thomas Houfe was born Huntington, York c 1881.

They both appear on the 1901 at Thirsk and 1911 at Auckland, Durham.

There is two different spellings of Tweddall and Tweddell, both are used for Eliza, the first spelling for her surname and the latter for mothers surname for childrens birth entries.

Thanks for the info, most welcome, I have been looking for the census for both, so many thanks.
Alice is my  Great Grandmother, known as Alice Matilda Hall (nee Houfe). She lived her life out at Holme on Spalding Moor, E. Yorks with husband George Robert. Her younger brother Robert Gamble Houfe died at Royal Albert Asylum, Lancashire aged 15 1901.

Just thought I would get in touch. The Thomas Houfe mentioned below is my Great Grandma's eldest brother (my great grandma was Annie Elizabeth Houfe). I've had a look at your other post but unfortunately don't have any of that information (unfortunately my Grandad, who moved up to County Durham from Riccall and used to visit relations in Auckland apparently, didn't tell my Dad any information like that). I do have quite a bit on the Houfes though going back so if there is any help I can give you

I would love to exchange info and glean an insight into your side of the Houfe, although I can say that your "unknown lot" is not that dissimilar to my Houfe, will explain later.

After probing my Great Aunt, 89 years and niece to Arthur Thomas Houfe, I have gleaned a little more info on him.

Arthur apparently married twice, he had 3/4 sons to his first wife who died, he them remarried and started with
another family.
The sons from Arthur's first marriage did not go with him to live with his second wife.
Arthur and his sister Alice Matilda Houfe fell out after Arthur returned to Riccall and persuaded their dad Thomas to go to live with him in Thirsk, much again the wishes of Alice who loved her dad dearly and did not want him to go, their mother had died when they were children and Alice was left to bring up the siblings as well as keep house and work.
Some time after their dad had left Riccall for Thirsk, to go live with Arthur, Alice found out that Arthur had put their dad in a home, strong words were said and Arthur and Alice never spoke again, my Great Aunt never knew her Uncle Arthur or his wives or any children.
My Great Aunt thinks that Arthur died about 3 years before Alice as someone came to tell her and my GA remembers this and thinks it could have been one of the eldest sons of Arthur.

also found a death for an Eliza Houfe, Auckland  Mar Q 1926 aged 50 years, could this have been his first wife??? the dates fit for death first then followed by another marriage.

If I am correct with both these wives then the 2nd marriage will put him in abt 45 yrs old, so his first wife must have been 5 yrs older than him, so he was young enough to start a 2nd family.

1. Margaret could be named after Margate which most likely is Margaret
2. Arthur T G could be Arthur Thomas Gamble, after his father Arthur and Gamble was Arthur's mothers maiden name.
3. Percival could be named after Arthur's nephew, Henry Percival Houfe 1903 the son of Alice Matilada Houfe who was sister to Arthur.

Cannot find a death for a Arthur or his father Thomas Houfe in the area of Thirsk or Auckland??

I have found on 1911 census at Auckland, Co Durham the family of Arthur Thomas Houfe 30, wife Eliza 35 and children
Florence 9, Thomas William 7, Arthur 4 and Robert 2.

The 3 boys here must be the 3 that my Great Aunt mentioned as not going to live with their fathers 2nd wife, but then that was another 15 years away so they would all be working and making their own lives by the time Eliza died.
