INDIA: Nancy Russell
« on: Wednesday 01 July 09 11:06 BST (UK) »
I'm looking into the BEADLE family, and know that Nancy RUSSELL married Amos Beadle in Bombay in 1887. I want to know more about Nancy...  all I know is that her father may have been in the military, possibly from Poona area, but this is unknown at the moment. Can anyone help me/ guide me to finding out some more info? Many thanks!

The marriage is in the GRO army marriages index - Kirkee 1887 page 197 - so you should be able to apply for a copy of the marriage certificate.

It's the International Genealogical Index put online by the Church of Latter Day Saints on http://www.familysearch.org/.

Go to Advanced Search http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Search/frameset_search.asp and type in parents names John Russell and Harriet, and click on "search". You should see a number of possible siblings in the "International Genealogical Index - Asia"

Shaun thanks so much, you have been so helpful... amazing what's there when you know where to look! So Nancy had 4 siblings, and her parents were John Russell and Harriet. Now I need to find out about them... Looks like they were in Ahmedabad when they had their first two children, the first in 1858.
