Coventry trade directories
« on: Thursday 02 July 09 18:34 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have access to trade directories covering Allesley in the 1850s and 60s?  I`m trying to find out about Edward R Kerby who was a watch manufacturer in 1861.
Any help would be much appreciated

Jane

Hi Jane

Its not my area but!

Try phoning Coventry social studies library they are very helpfull and do free look ups for 30 min being they know what and where to look. Also send post free parish reg or Directories copies if only a few needed. and about pound for more.

Warkwick and Lichfield Libaries aswell all address and phone numbers found in search in google or other web search engines.Yahoo etc.
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

I would suggest you get in touch with this site, they had a stall in Coventry market last week, and where answering a lot of questions on watch makers.

Thank you both - I`ve now found him on a couple of directories via Ancestry but will definitely try to find out more from the Coventry Watch Museum site.
