Wilson of County Cavan
« on: Monday 06 July 09 15:54 BST (UK) »
I have read that there is available as a census substitute or miscellaneous records "Wilson of Co. Cavan" held at the Ruling Church Body Library. I understand that this library is in Dublin. Does anyone know if this record is held at a local Co. Cavan library? Or can someone check this record while in Dublin? If this is possible, contact me with the necessary names, places and dates that I know. Thanks,  Marilyn

Can you give us more details of the title of the information or the source where you found it mentioned so we can help?

From the listing it is a family history (or at least compiled records of Wilsons) rather than census records/census substitutes (notice the 1st column lists it as 'Family History').

OK.....evidently it is held by the Ruling Church Body Library - Dublin. If it is there, how does one go about seeing the record? I would need to hire someone? Is this Family History held at a local Cavan library? Thanks for helping.  Marilyn

To answer the 2st part of your question- you would need to contact the library to ask if they have a copy of this. However, it may be merely a collection of information rather than an actual printed volume.

Representative Church Body Library- open Monday to Friday 10 to 1, and 2 to 5
RCB Library, Braemor Road, Churchtown, Dublin 14 (not sure how up-to-date this information is). You would need to contact them regarding this 'document'- it is possible they might be able to photocopy information from it for you but that will probably depend on their rules and any restrictions on the material.

I was looking into that link mentioned earlier to find out more about this source and have found that web-article seems to be a transcript from the book Irish Records by James Ryan.

Most of the web-page is transcript of the commercial directory, and family history sections from the book - except for that last entry which reads :

"Wilton of Co. Cavan" pedigree in Swanzy Notebooks - RCB Library, Dublin

the preceding entries are the same as the web-page i.e.
  O'Reilly  -    Briefne 8(4) 1994
  O'Reilly  -    Briefne 8(2) 1991
  Parr      - RCB Library
  Perrott  - RCB Library

you can view an extract of the book at this link  : http://www.rootschat.com/links/06na/
