Berepper
« on: Thursday 09 July 09 00:53 BST (UK) »
I believe there is a village called Berepper near to Gunwalloe, can anyone provide an online photo or image of it  - an old time image would be wonderful to go with the history of the place.

The one marked Gunwalloe c 1960 (ref g69003) is Berepper and there is a modern photo here:

The white cottage on the left hand side is in both  :) If I remember correctly it is called Toy Cottage.

Church Cove is over the hill beyond Halzephron and the locals would not call it Berepper.

The photo ref G69004 is down at Chyanvounder on the road parallel to the coast and the building in the middle foreground on the right is now the Halzephron Inn.  Allegedly has a tunnel that was used by smugglers!

Many thanks for all these images, my children's line descends from a Richard Beauripper of Chyvarloe and it is presumed that Berepper is something to do with that family. I love the thought that they may have been smugglers, I still remember the poem I learned at school with the line "Watch the wall my darling while the gentlemen go by!"
Many thanks.
