Hall Family Pembroke Town
« on: Thursday 09 July 09 12:02 BST (UK) »
Hi,
    Looking for any information on the above family who were bakers in the 1800s and early 1900s. I am especially interested in the death of Hugh Edward Hall sometime between 1911 and 1930.
Many thanks

Hi,

My Husband put the post on for me. Basically I have /had relatives in each but I was trying to find out more about Hugh Edward Hall ( born1862). He had the Model Bakery in I believe  Main Street Pembroke, at least 2 of his sons (according to 1911 census) were Bakers. My Grandfather, Charles Thornton Hall was bought up by David John, the Builder and his wife Catherine. I believe that David John was later Mayor of Pembroke.

Hugh Edward Hall was married to Eleanor, daughter of Thomas and Mary John, and I have recently found her burial  but I cannot find when my Great Grandfather died!

Hoping that someone out there can shed some light, any light!

I am especially interested in the death of Hugh Edward Hall sometime between 1911 and 1930.

From my index of all parish registers for Pembroke St Mary and Pembroke St Michael I note the following ;
Baptism Reg of Pembroke St Michael
12 Dec 1898 Henry Edward Oakley to Henry Edward Oakley & Emmie Ellen Hall of East Bridge a Cashier baptised by T.J.L. Davies
12 Dec 1898 Evelyn Minnie Edith to Henry Edward Oakley & Emmie Ellen Hall of East Bridge a Cashier baptised by T.J. L. Davies
I can confirm that there is no burial for a Hugh Edward Hall at Pembroke St Mary or St Michael upto the year 1929.

Hello Orielbenfro,

Many thanks for your interest. Hugh Edward Hall was buried at Monkton Cemetery on 18 Dec 1940, he outlived his wife Eleanor(John) by 16 years. Pembrokeshire County Council has an excellent feature  whereby you can trace Burials, hence I can say that I have the grave no and can confirm that Hugh and Eleanor are in the same grave! Fantastic. It was offline for a bit and I didn't think it would be coming back.

I think we have been in touch before, you did some Lookups for me for Breazington and Woodward marriages in Pembroke. I have purchased the early wills that you suggested.

With Thanks

Hello! I am the great-granddaughter of George Hall who was one of Hugh's children. I'm afraid that I don't know much about the death of Hugh since I am just starting out in my research, but I am in touch with the granddaughter of Eddie, another of Hugh's children and she has discovered a lot about the family. Would be interested to find out what you know and what your interest is.
