date of 1871 census

can some one give me the date the 1871 census was taken .I am trying to narrow down the date of birth of
Mary Elizabeth Jones age 8mths 1871 census Flint her mother was Sarah Jones a widow at the time of the census free B.M.D. gives me 7 possibilities

Thanks that puts the birth of Mary Elizabeth  in September 1870 and the death of the unknown father no earlier than December 1869
there is just so many Jones its mind boggling

Not the easiest of names to research, especially if it is in Wales
