Thank you so much for your reply.  Does the Owen Platt family go back any further than 1846?....My Platt family left North Wales by 1830 and came to America.  But maybe your Owen could be related.
Thanks,

Hi Rick and welcome  :)

The only Richard Platt that I can find in the Ruabon baptism records (at that time Cefn Mawr was part of Ruabon parish) is this one:

17 April 1807 (b. 27 March) Richard Platt, son of John Platt and Margaret.
Residence given as C(h)ristionydd Kenrick(Cynrig) which I believe contained Cefn.

Thanks Gadget.....I am appreciative of that posting.......I wonder if anyone knows of the cefn mawr non-conformist church records that exist.....I would like to check them before I go for the Richard of 1807 since his tombstone says he died in 1860 and he was 49 years old. By the way I have joined the Clywd FHS and have purchased Wrexham records....Volume 8, 10, 11,15 and will do lookups for anyone that wants any.

Thanks again,

Rick

The only one I can find which may be of help is the Baptism of an Ann Platt on the 27th of April 1817 to Parents John(Collier) and Sarah Platt..The Baptism is given as taking place at Rhosllanechrugog Independent.I'm saying given there as a lot of my Families were Baptised there too,so the location could be doubtful.

Rick

Do you have any other family members that might help us locate him?

Children's names, etc. might help.

thanks gentlemen,

i know the family were colliers as they came to Pennsylvania and began mining right away.....This family probably included Edward, Thomas, John, and Richard.....Richard seems to be the youngest and may be the son of John....women names seem to be Sarah and Hannah.....unfortunately USA census records until 1850 only list the head of family.... Edward, Thomas, and John, were at least ten years older than Richard...the census records are so sketchy before 1850.....There was an history written in the 1840's of the area where these men live and all list Cefn Mawr as there place of residence before coming to America......We are talking I believe for these men's death of between 1780 to 1810.....I have Richard immigration record and it states Ruabon North Wales and doesn't indicate an exact year of immigration but from the date that it is dated 1839, it appears they all left the Ruabon area between 1825 to 1835.

I know that they family is no longer in this area.....My great-great grandmother Sarah Platt who was Richard's daughter died in 1928.  She was married to my great-great grandfather Samuel Confair.
