Kenny
« on: Monday 13 July 09 11:01 BST (UK) »
I would like to find  any information on John Kenny or his daughter Fanny Kenny who was born about 1830 and died in Tasmania, Australia in 1875. In her obit it states she is the daughter of John Kenny, Lismore House, Earl's Court, County Galway, Ireland. If anyone can help with a birth for Fanny or any other info I would appreciate it.

regards Janine

I wonder could that be Eyrecourt Co. Galway, rather than Earl's Court

There seems to be a Lismore House near to Eyrecourt in Co. Galway, the surname Kenny is mentioned.

see this link from from landedestates.ie : http://www.rootschat.com/links/06p5/

The location might be assist with following up on parish records. Do you know which religion the Kenny family were ?

Wonder if 'Earl's Court' is Eyrecourt in Co. Galway? There's a Mrs. Susan Kenny, Lismore House listed!

Hey Guys,

What quick replies! This is a great lead. Fanny Kenny married a John Bailey and called her daughter Susan So the Mrs Susan Kenny is a real possiblity.  She was buried in the Anglican Church graveyard.

1911 census for Co. Galway is online (1901 coming later this year hopefully) and it might be useful to you later if you are able to find more information on Kenny family (16 Kennys listed under Eyrecourt DED- however, they seem to be shepherd or labourers :-\).

I have Frances Kenny as the daughter of John Kenny (c1807-1887) of Lismore House, Eyrecourt, Co. Galway, Ireland (son of Henry Kenny and Sarah Geraghty) and Jane Susan Finney (c1808-1881) of  Eyrecourt, Co. Galway, Ireland, daughter of Richard Finney (b. c1770) and Frances Browne (b. c1773).  There were a number of Finney's and Kenny's in the Eyrecourt, Clonfert Parish area at the time and some are still in the same estates today.

John Kenny and Jane Susan Finney are thought to have had the following children but due to the destruction of Irish records in Dublin it is difficult to confirm whether this information is correct.
-  Henry c1825-1870
-  Sarah c1828-1874 married James Johnston
-  Frances c1830-1875 married John Bailey
-  Richard c1832-1897
-  Thomas
-  John
-  Susan c1839 married John Johnston
-  George c1840 married Frances Fitzroy
-  Stephen c1852-1880

Death records show Fanny as Fanny Remy Bailey but there is no record of the name Remy elsewhere and it is more likely that the name was actually Fanny Kenny Bailey.

I am interested to know the birth dates for John Bailey.  Most researchers show him as the convict b. c1793 but I have him as the son of Samuel Bailey and Sarah Pantry born 1818 in Bilsington, Kent and dying 26 Nov 1883 in Green Ponds, Tasmania and this is consistent with the naming of their son as Samuel Pantry Bailey.
