Census Question
« on: Thursday 16 July 09 16:22 BST (UK) »
I've found a child who matches the criteria I'm looking for on the 1901 census.

She's only 4 and is stated as the head of the house holds niece - except I can't see who else is in the house hold because its on the previous page.

She's at the top of the next page on her own before it goes on to the next house hold.

How do I get to see the previous page?

Thanks in advance.

Janice

assume you are looking at the 'official' 1901 census - not that familiar with it, but surprised it doesnt allow you to see the whole HOUSEHOLD.

Let's have her name and full census details (RG13 etc) or her age and PoB, and I'll find them on Ancestry for you....  :)

Her name is Mary Mainwaring - born 1897, she's stated as 4 in the census, and is the niece of the head of the house hold.

The address is 63 Eldon Street, Liverpool and the code is RG 13/3410.

Many Thanks

Hi Janice

There is a marriage registered in Liverpool 1895 Jul-Aug-Sep Vol 8b page 297 between

Michael Daley and Eliza Jane Mainwaring

(It's Daley on the original and the transcription)

So it looks like

Henry & William are Eliza Jane's brothers
Eleanor may be married to another brother & Mary may be her child

It's called educated guesswork!

Linda

Added - It's definitely Daly on the original 1901 census

LOL, the lads would have to be her bro's - given the In Law status and different surname.

Older bro John can be seen in 1881,

RG11; Piece: 3593; Folio: 143; Page: 12

and heres his probable marriage:-

Marriages Sep 1894

Mainwaring  John     Liverpool  8b 1    to   Williams Ellenor      Liverpool  8b 1

Technically they could be brothers of Michael's sister's husband, 'cos brother-in-law and sister-in-law don't completely define the relationship!

But we guessed right  the first time
