Birth - Vernon Robert SMITH

Hi All

I am trying to find the birth for Vernon Robert Smith.

I have his death certificate:
He died age 22 on November 11th 1938. Home address at the time was 69, Kings Road, Birmingham.23.
Informant of death: Father SMITH Initial could be A.H. or Alf or Art.

Vernon is buried with his grandmother Annie Louise Smith
at Witton Cemetery.

It appears he was born 1916 according to the date and age at death.

I can only presume he was born in Birmingham, but have no proof.

I wonder if you wonderful people can please help me.

I have tried to get hold of his medical records from the hospital where he died, but the records do not go back to 1938.

Thanks for your reply, but I had already found that one. I just wondered if I had missed anything.

Anyway, if Vernon was born in 1916 in Cardiff, he may have been born out of wedlock, (which appears to be the norm with the Smith family - even my poor mother was:(

Anyway, Vernon born 1916 June Qtr, in Cardiff, family moved to Staffordshire and parents got married Dec Qtr in Dudley.

I then tried to find a marriage between SMITH and ROGERS.

I found Elizabeth Rogers  on BMD married to SMITH Ref. 6b 1549
I found Arthur Smith on BMD married to Rogers Ref 6b 1649
NOTE THE DIFFERENT REF NUUMBERS.

I looked on Ancestry and found they had the same pages, so, I looked at the originals, and sure enough, they were there, both on Ref 6B 1649,
Elizabeth Rogers Ref Number had been copied wrong, and it does read 1649,
but someone read it as 1549.

This is not the first time I have encountered this problem, so I will have to tell BMD and Ancestry yet again, about the error.

After all this, I still am not sure if The marriage is the right one, or if the parents are the right people.

I suppose I will have to get the certificates to prove things to me.
