Looking for William and Elizabeth Prosser in 1901 or 1911.  William born about 1869 in Dixton, Mon.  Elizabeth born about 1865 in Glamorgan.  They had a child Mary born February 1895 in Penderyn Glam.  William and Elizabeth were married 24 December 1894 in Merthyr Tydfil.  Any help at all will be appreciated.  Thank you.

Have you found William or Elizabeth on any earlier census? If so, could you give the references to help with this search?

Haven't spotted them as yet in 1901 and because of the strict copyright on the 1911, there can be no look-ups

osprey,
Thank you for your reply.  I have William on the 1871/81/91 Census with his family.  In 1891 they were living at 3 May Hill, Dixton Hadnock, Mon.  Ref. RG12/4343 Folio 118, Page 1.  I have drawn a blank on Elizabeth James other than the marriage certificate in Merthyr 24 Dec. 1894.  I tried to find her on the 1881 Census but there are so many people with the name Elizabeth James I had to call it off.  I see that you have James and Watkins on your tree also!
The child Mary was born in Penderyn so I was assuming they would still be in that area.  Cardinal sin of genealogy of course, don't assume anything. Thanks again for your interest. Incidentally, I have my Grandfather Edwin Prosser, Brother of William on the 1901 Census in Hirwaun and 1911 in Barry.  Don't know if this helps at all.

what details are given on the marriage cert?
What was the name & occupation of Elizabeth's father?
Any clues in the name of the witnesses?
What about Elizabeth's address?

As much info as poss needed to trace not uncommon surnames.

Osprey,
Please forgive me, my record keeping obviously leaves much to be desired.   Unfortunately, old age and a large tree have been too much for me to handle.  I thank you again for your time and patience.

no problem!  Glad to have explained my déjà vu!

Have you found a remarriage for William? There seem to be a few possibles registered in Merthyr Tydfil.

osprey,
Thank you for being so kind.  I recently switched to a new genealogy programme which I am struggling with, this and recently turning 80 are quite a challenge!  No, I have not looked for the remarriage of William yet.  I have looked for him on the 1911 Census both in Glamorgan and Monmouth, but there are quite a number of William Prossers to choose from and I have not decided which to take a stab at. Wish I had asked more questions about my family when I lived in Wales.  There are probably many like me who grew up taking
Grannie and Grampa, Uncles and Aunts for granted without a thought as to where they came from.  Can you tell me the year of death for Elizabeth please.  I should have sent for that certificate long ago. In your message of 27 Feb. 08 you gave me the Quarter and page volume etc. but I can't see the year.  Thanks
again.
