Cardiff home for unmarried mothers
« on: Wednesday 22 July 09 18:04 BST (UK) »
Hello, a relative was born at 22, Gordon Road Cardiff in 1929. The family information is that his mother was sent to Cardiff to have him as she was unmarried. I am trying to work out if his mother went to stay with a relative, or if this address was a home for unmarried mothers?

Has anyone got any local knowledge that could help?

I have been looking through google books and have just found a reference to another unrelated birth announcement in 1930 at a Nurse Lewis's Maternity Home in Gordon Road. The number of the house isn't mentioned, but this could be the same place?

Hello again, I've managed to work this one out and have had it confirmed that 22-24 Gordon Road was a nursing/maternity home until the 1950's
