Location of Burial Records
« on: Wednesday 22 July 09 23:07 BST (UK) »
I am searching for the Burial Records which would give me place of Burial for Charles SHIPTON b 1829 Horsley Gloucestershire who died  26th ....1877(Month unable to read on Death Certificate) Rock Terrace....(Tnce)  Charles SHIPTON was a Chelsea Out Patient Pensioner on 6th March 1877..His death index is listed as April May June 1877 District of Wigan Greater Manchester Lancashire. Charles SHIPTON was living at Crossley St Chorlton Manchester in the 1871 census.
I have checked the Cemetery Records on line at Manchester City Council and Charles SHIPTON is not listed.
If a person is looking for the burial records what Department would you need to search for these records.
Many Thanks

Hi

You would need to buy a copy of his death cert to establish exactly whereabouts in Wigan he died and also his actual date of death

Have a look at this website which may have some useful info for you

Thanks for that - I need new specs!!  Doesn't tell us the district of Wigan though.  I'll check my 1871 CD's for Rock Terrace

Many THANKS for your HELP regarding my query to Burial Records. having no knowledge of Wigan or Manchester it was impossible for me to name Towns..etc Having a good look at the death certificate under a scope it looks 61 Prestius Buildings
Rock Terrace/House????
Ince
The death certificate was registered 26th May 1877
It was more then likely that he was staying at the above address while receiving treatment from the Chelsea Outpatients
