Not sure how you are expecting to get confirmation of the birth and marriage other than checking in index to civil registration (free) or ordering the actual certificates.

Hi,
Emerald ancestors gives the marriage as 8 Jan 1854 in Draperstown Church of Ireland. However Aghadowey's link says it is 1856. As this agrees with your date it is most probably correct. A parent search on the LDS site gives 5 children, one of which, Henry James, was born 17 Jul 1869 and this agrees with Emerald Ancestors. The LDS site also gives a James, born 21 May 1867.

Thanks Kingskerswell and Aghadowey -  I was hoping to find the Church and this information gives it.  Not sure about the variation in the dates but I will check this out.  I am doing this for a friend so want to be sure before I order a certificate.  Thanks again.  RosemaryJoan

The newspaper notice of the marriage is perhaps more reliable that the information given so far (Emerald Ancestors, etc. but the actual certificate would need to be checked.
Londonderry Sentinel. 18 Jan.1856 "At Draperstown Church, on the 8th inst., by the Rev. S. Montgomery, Rector, Henry, second son of Mr. J. Orr, Moneygulggy, Draperstown, to Margaret, eldest daughter of the late Mr. John McCleland, Dirnascallon, Desertmartin."
Think Moneygulggy is either misprint or mistranscription for Moneyguiggy and Dirnascallon should be Durnascallon.

Thank you Aghadowey - that's wonderful - I couldn't find Margaret's father's address, so now it's all coming together.  Best wishes, RosemaryJoan

Here's another variation of Moneyguiggy  ::)

"Probate of the Will of Henry James Orr late of Moneygruggy County Londonderry Farmer who died 3 October 1903 granted at Londonderry to William Hutchinson Farmer." (www.proni.gov.uk- Will Etracts)

Thanks for that - I had already found it and realise that there are lots of versions of the name.  Have now looked at the McClellands of Desertmartin, so it is all coming together.  Regards, RosemaryJoan
