hello all
I am finally blowing the dust of my Irish ancestry and have found some good material from visiting Mitchelstown two years ago and meeting the townspeople.
BUT ... I still lack the marriage date/place for my gg gparents Thomas WALSH and Mary CLEARY - date would be between 1850-1857, most likely in Cork City or Southern Cork.
I have combed the poor Irish Roots database to death, trying Mary Leary, Maria O'Leary, Margaret Cleary, Thos Welch and any other combination I can think of, for Counties Limerick, Tipperary, Kilkenny and NE Cork, and carefully checking all the references for matches, but no joy. So I'm really thinking they married in Southern Cork. They were Roman Catholics so won't show up in the civil registration index 1845.
If anyone can point me in the direction of how to find a Cork City marriage 1850-57 I would be very grateful. I just may fly to Cork if that is the most sensible option!
I think Mary Cleary was the one born at Anglesborough just outside Mitchelstown in 1835 (it was Co Limerick according to the 1901 census), but the marriage entry or witnesses to the marriage in particular, just might help me prove it.
Any help or advice much appreciated.
Happy hunting all!
