Garland - Mullingar
« on: Monday 27 July 09 09:31 BST (UK) »
Hi - this is my first post to the board, so please accept my apologies for any breaches in etiquette that I may inadvertently make!

I am attempting to find any records relating to my ggg grandparents, whom I believe were employed at Levington Park, near Mullingar in the early to mid 1800's. My gg grandfather, Joseph Garland (born abt. 1843) gave his place of birth as Levington Park. Was this a parish in its' own right?

Joseph's father (also Joseph Garland), was a carpenter who died prior to Joseph jnr's marriage in 1876. I suspect that Joseph Snr's wife may have been named Kathleen, but I am not absolutely sure.

Joseph Jnr was a servant , perhaps at Levington Park, prior to his enlistment in the Westmeath Rifles, eventually he transferred into the Madras Division of the East India Company's Army.

I have tried the resources centre close to Mullingar but I don't think that the records provided related to my family line.

I would welcome any advice that listers may be kind enough to share, in the hope that I can eventually find Joseph's family.

Many thanks,

Cy
