Irish birthplaces from 1911 UK Census
« on: Monday 27 July 09 15:41 BST (UK) »
Hi

We are researching the Greene family who originally came from Ireland and settled in Glamorganshire.

We have them on the 1911 Census although cannot decipher all of the Irish birthplaces.  We can spot Cappoquin and Waterford although that is about it!

Can anybody please help to decipher the following 1911 birthplace extracts so that we can try and get underway with our research which is proving difficult at the moment!  We will then try and explore the irish marriage and birth records.

Thanks in advance.

Top one looks like - Cloghun G Tipp

3rd one - Cloghun

There's a Clogheen in Tipperary

6th could be Dunord ??

Also Cappoquin looks to have been spelt Capperquin!

You can see a bit more about an area by viewing occupants and then looking at the House and Building Return associated with it - you may have to scroll down for this.

Unfortunatley it doesn't look as though Tipperary and Waterford have been done yet (unless you know better!)

I would think that the 1st and 3rd are both Clogheen - just rushed handwriting  and the 4th Cappoquinn using the alternative spelling  Cappaquinn

Looks like Clogheen might also be the last word of the second one too.

Agree with Annclare. Last one is definately Durrow, County Waterford.

The 3rd one down could be Cloghane which is in County Kerry, Ireland. Or it could also be Clogheen, County Tipperary?
