« on: Thursday 30 July 09 16:43 BST (UK) »
Albert G Moss was awarded the DCM during WW!. Details from Medal Card, Albert was in Royal Field Artillery Number 25166 and he was a Batter Sergeant Major and also Acting Warrant Officer. Is there any way of finding out when he was awarded the medal and what for. Many thanks.

Hi Herbert

http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/29940/supplements/1562

DCM citations are easy to find in the LG as most start " For conspicuous gallantry .." so you search for conspicuous gallantry  and a name and/or number.

If you go to page 1550 you see that it was first announced on 1st January 1917. First entries are just a list. You can find a specific date by searching for 1 january, 1917 in the second box and moss in the first.

If you then press Previous a few times you get to the start of the list. I would recommend going to the first page in the supplement and saving the page with the fancy royal cypher.

Ken
