1851 census look up for George Train
« on: Thursday 30 July 09 22:08 BST (UK) »
Hello

could someone please do a look up for me on the 1851 census for George Train and family.

I believe the family could be living in the area of Skidby, Yks.

Found the marriage on the IGI of a George Train and Suannah Brown 14 July 1833 in Sculcoates.

Found the following baptisms in Skiby.

Thomas Train 5 april 1835, Mary Train 26 Aug. 1838

I am interesting in seeing the place of birth For George Train as I believe he could be a relative to my Christopher Train as on Christoper's marriage record in 1836 in Skidby one of the wittnesses is a Susannah Train.

Thank you very much.

Cheers

Anne

Anne,

I have just taken a look at the 1861 census and in 1861 George's occupation is show as Parish Clerk.

The writing on the 1851 census was difficult to read in places and I could not make out the words clearly after Ag Lab.

Looking at the 1861 census I now think that George's occupation in 1851 was Ag Lab and Parish Clerk.

Hi cjl

Thank you for doing the look up for me I really appreciate it.  I have a strong feeling now that George is connected to my Christopher Train as Christopher named his only son George Train.

Interesting that is a parish clerk.  Could you look on the 1871 census and see if there are anymore children to this family.

thanks again

regards
Anne

Anne,

Here are the family in 1841.

Skidby, Yorkshire

George Train           45
Susanna Train         30
Thomas Train            6
Mary Train                 2
Joseph Train              1

All born in the county of Yorkshire.  George's occupation is not recorded on the census.

1861  Skidby, Yorkshire

George Train        Head        Mar     55          Parish Clerk          Born Skidby, Yorkshire
Susanna Train      Wife         Mar     41                                       Born Beverley, Yorkshire
Thomas Train        Son        Unmar  26          Ag Lab                  Born Skidby, Yorkshire

1871  Skidby, Yorkshire

Susannah Train   Head        Wid      62        Drefs? Dress Maker  Born Beverley, Yorkshire
Mary Train           Niece                    11        Scholar                    Born Skidby, Yorkshire

1881  Skidby, Yorkshire

Susanna Train    Head        Wid      72        Annuitant                Born Beverley

Looking at the 1861 census it looks like Mary Train may have been the daughter of Robert Train born about 1827 Skidby.

If I can be of any further help, please let me know.

Best Wishes
