Looking for information on the following Briggs brothers:  George, Anthony, Robert.

I have proof that Anthony and George came to America and resided in Somerset Co., Pennsylvania, USA around 1800.  George died on Feb 27, 1841 and Anthony on Nov 18, 1830 in Somerset Co, PA.  According Anthony's tombstone he was born in County Down on Dec 14, 1757, so I'm assuming George was born there as well.  I don't have a birth date for George.  The only reference I have for Robert is his name mentioned in George's first will.  There was also a sister who probably married a Campbell and had a daughter, Jemima, who was also born in County Down around 1787.  George was married to an Elizabeth ?.

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Glenda,

Hello Glenda,

What denomination was the Briggs family?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.
