*Completed*William HARDING in Sherborne please
« on: Sunday 02 August 09 07:08 BST (UK) »
Can someone please help me with a lookup of William HARDING, originally born in Kelston Somerset, in Sherbore Dorset please?

I believe he was there in 1851, perhaps with a cousin Ann HARDING from Nunney in Somerset, but I don't know whether he married or not.

He was born in 1804.

Any help in finding him in various censuses would be very gratefully received.

Thank you.

Many thanks Pam.

Unfortunately I don't know much about William. From what you have posted, we know that he was the son of Ann HARDING (formerly CANDY), that he was still alive in 1851, and that he had previously been married but his wife was dead by 1851.

I have no idea where he was in 1841, although it seems likely that it was either Dorset or Somerset.

It would be good to see if there is a possible William HARDING in either of those Counties in 1841 with approximately the right date of birth.

If his wife is with him, then it would provide another point for me to research; looking for their marriage and her death.

Many thanks for any help you can provide.

Kind regards

Phil

Hi Philip

When you say Ann Harding formerly Candy do you mean Ann Candy m ? Harding (i.e. Nee) or does this mean a second marriage? ... sorry to be pedantic!

In my line, Robert Candy 1749-1813 of East Knoyle m Ann Harding - one of the children was Charles Candy 1800-1890

Ann Harding 1766-1846 was born in Woodstock, Oxfordshire and her parents were Francis Harding and Anne Dagley, they were married in Hethe, Oxfordshire

Ann had a brother William 1763-1827 - William married Mary Ward in 1793 in Burton Dassett, Warwickshire. They had several children all born in Burton Dassett but William died in Sulgrave, Northamptonshire - one of the children was Mary Harding 1794-1833

Charles Candy and Mary Harding (1st cousins) married in 1825 in Sulgrave

Andrew
