« on: Tuesday 04 August 09 19:23 BST (UK) »
Could somebody give me any information about this picture please?
It is of my great uncle,he was in the army and i think it was taken somewhere like burma.
He was born in 1910 in south wales.

I dont know what regiment he was in or  what medal he is being awarded and i wondered if somebody could give me some information from this picture.

Any help would be great thanks.

Hi

At a guess it's about 1950 - the uniforms would probably have had a more utility look in WW2.  If I am right he is being decorated for some action in one of the post-war colonial insurgencies.

I just love the way somebody (an RSM?) has placed the table and the medal escorts just touching the white line.  And the medals still to be awarded are neatly right-dressed on the table.

All the best

Blimey.... :o

Not much to go on here!

I would have put it in the mid 1950s, and possibly Malaya...

He could be getting his Long Service and Good Conduct (LSGC) medal...

He is some form of Sgt because of the red sash....

Much more than that...ermmmm....
One more charge and then be dumb,

I wondered why mine took so long to load - the RootsChat computer could not make up its mind which was first!
