Census Lookup

Hi,
Looking to trace a James Finnicane or might be listed as James Fincken. Was listed in England 1851 census as aged 38, born in Ireland and married to Ellen from Ireland. Ellen is listed as being 10 years older.

Need to try work out if married in Ireland or England and if at all possible where he was born. Any help would be grateful, even if to point in the right direction.

the only complete surviving Irish Census returns are for 1901 and 1911, so there will not be any details of James or Ellen on these unless they moved back.

Full Civil registration started in 1864, so to late to include their births.

Non-Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 - so if this applies to James and Ellen you may find a record in the Irish civil index - http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347

To start a search for older parish records you would need to know the place, or parish, where they were born.
