Samuel Willey b <1801> Sutton in Ashfield.  I cannot find his parents.
Samuel was married 21 Jul 1828 to Mary Clarke in Sutton in Ashfield.
Mary was born about 1805 - I cannot find her parents.

Samuel was a publican in Sutton in Ashfield until his death in 1865.
Can anyone help?

Thank you Sunflower - It didn't give me any clues to Samuel's past but it certainly sorted out the other branch of the family.

Thanks again

Jean

Hi Jean,

I realise it's 7 years since you posted on this thread, and you may long ago have solved this. I came across this thread after a lucky Google - I am researching a Willey family in Sutton that is directly related to your Samuel. I thought it is worth posting anyway.

The name Willey appears variously in the parish registers as Willeys/Willis, and I am confident this is his baptism at Sutton in Ashfield, plus siblings:

11 Nov 1798 - John - son of John & Amy WILLIS
19 Apr 1801 - Samuel - son of John & Amy WILLIS
06 Mar 1803 - Ann - dau of John & Amy WILLIS
23 Sep 1810 - Peter Frignal - son of John & Emma WILLIS

His parent's marriage at Sutton:
03 Aug 1798 - John WILLEY & Emma ALWOOD

The names Amy and Emma were often used interchangeably in older records.

I believe John Willey was a son of William WILLEY and Ann FRIGNALL. Ann was the daughter of John FRIGNALL and Lydia WARD, and had a brother Peter FRIGNALL who died in 1833 leaving in his will most of his effects to the Willey family. I am researching via the Frignall side of the family.

Regards
Alexander
