Hello Alphonsus123,

My Great Grandfather and family are from the Carrickmacross / Latinalbany area of Monaghan County.

Nicholas Holland ( age 4 ) and family left the Carrickmacross workhouse and settled in Northern NY via Montreal.

Nicholas Holland 1794-1884 married to Mary Holland 1805-1880 --> Great Great Grandparents
Nicholas Holland was a farmer on the Shirley Estate

children
(Sarah, Redmond, James, John, Bridget, Peter, Margaret, Nicholas)

Nicholas Holland 1846-1911 married to Anna Fullam 1852-1944 --> Great Grandparents

children
(Annie, Catherine, James, John, Nicholas, Robert, Sarah, Thomas, Lillian, William, Redmond)

Redmond Holland 1896 - 1980 married to Genevie Behan 1897-1986 --> Grandparents

children
(Robert, Kathleen, Russell, Janet, Gerald)

Some of the Holland family was shipped to Australia.

The family genealogy can be difficult due to the name of Nicholas and Remond being used frequently.

Kevin Holland
