Alliance box Co, Warrington, archives.
« on: Thursday 13 August 09 19:48 BST (UK) »
Hello All,
Could anyone tell me where I would find any archives of the Alliance box Co which used to be in Orford Lane, Warrington until about 1970. They manufacturered cardboard boxes, sorry to point out the obvious.

My grandfather, Fred Grensinger from Aberdeen started as salesman with the company in 1922 and worked his way up to Managing Director in Warrington in the 1950's+60's.

I am based in Glasgow but hope to visit Warrington at some point to explore archives. I would be very grateful to anyone who might know where they would be kept. I got nothing Googling!
Thanks, Lucie

McDonald - Ardnamurchan 1850+
Hughes - Runcorn/Warrington 1920's - 1970s

P.S I actually think the papers will be in chester archives if the company is no longer there.Because thats where they go,
Other wise they are too young  ;D

Lucie, my mother in law was employed at the Alliance Box Works from 1927 to when she retired in 1973 and for a number of years was personal secretary to the Works Manager (later managing Director) Mr. R. E. Pearce, my wife has an Alliance Alders Paper Packaging company magazine Autumn 1974 works magazine if you wish I could copy the pages and email them as jpegs to you.

Vicky I have cropped and resized (reduced) them, there are 32 pages so it has taken me a while to complete, I have your email address so I will send them over tomorrow as attachments.

I am new to family history on my own account but I used to work in the Warrington reference library and we also had responsibility for the Warrington Record Office. At that time the records remained in Warrington although Warrington had been moved into Cheshire, since then Warrington got it's independence and is now a unitary authority. I do remember that we had records of local companies including the Alliance Box co. This link should help you to find further information:-

Good luck.  :)

I have the book 'Packaging through half a century' - a short history of the founding and progress of Alliance Box Co. Ltd., Warrington.
The date November 1950 was the Jubilee year of the founding of the Company in Warrington in 1900.
There are several good photographs. If anyone is interested, I can scan them in and send them to you.
