Dorset Queries
« on: Wednesday 02 March 05 13:45 GMT (UK) »
I am wondering if anyone knows if there are any parish registers that are searchable for Sturminster. I am looking for either a Birth or a marriage? Is there any Marriage index for this area?

Does anyone know if the 1841 census for this area is searchable or does anyone know of someone that does look-ups within this census?

Thanks

Andy

Thanks guys, but I have tried both these options already but with no luck. I have posted a look-up request but had no response to the 1841 request so thought maybe no one had access to it. Have also looked at the Dorset OPC, it has some people with the name I am looking for but they are all to far back in time.

Thanks though.

The Dorset 1841 census is available on CD rom but looks like no-one here has it. Archive CD books do it in smaller parts for £7.50 but due to the vagaries of the enumeration system Sturminster Newton and Sturminster Marshall are on separate CD's. The 1841 is not indexed you have to trawl through the parish looking at the images. Hope this is of some help. Regards Jan ;)

Did you ever locate your relatives in 1841?
I now have access to a searchable Dorset 1841 - happy to look them up if you are still searching.
