Hi
If anyone if taking a wander around Bishopstone and has nothing better to do I would love to see if anyone finds any gravestones for Tobitt or Combs, I know a William Combs Tobitt age 8 died 1845 was buried there but not sure if a stone exists for him. Bit too far away for me to travel.
Thanks in advance

I'll see what I can do although I think it unlikely to be legible as most f the older stones are weathered. I'll PM you in next 10 days or so. Pete

I have had a look around, nothing there. Probably 20% of stones are missing and of the rest 30% too weathered to read. The surnames don't appear in the 1841 census, are you certain it is the right Bishopstone? Pete

The family first appear at Bishopstone in the 1851 census as a Journeyman Miller at Tide Mills, kids born all over from Playden up to Bishopstone in 1843 so must have arrived 1841-3.
