Passenger Lists - Liverpool to Quebec
« on: Saturday 22 August 09 10:23 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I'm entering a new area of research and could do with a few opinions and bit of advice and any help anyone reading can offer.

I've been trying to find evidence to back-up a family story. I've learned that my great-granddad, Henry (Harry) Parkinson b. 01/06/1883 spent some time in Canada before he married (he married 07/07/1919).

Using Ancestry it looks like I've found Henry on a UK incoming passenger list. Details below:

Quebec to Liverpool - Arrival: 14/08/1913 - “Empress of Britain”
Name/Gender: Parkinson, Henry (male)
Occupation: Carpenter
Age: 30 (so born c. 1883)
Country of last permanent Residence: Canada
Country of Intended Future Residence: England

What I'd really like is evidence of Henry's journey out to Canada and to know how he lived his life while in Canada. Does this exist?

I know Henry was in Golborne, Lancashire, England for the 1911 census so I'm assuming he travelled some short time after the census was taken.

Any thoughts anyone?

Many, many thanks for reading. Best of Wishes, Rowan Tree  :)

Hi Rowan Tree,

The Canadian Passenger Lists are free to view at Library and Archives Canada.

This looks like your Henry arriving in Canada in May of 1912 aboard the Royal George.  He is headed to Toronto, Ontario
