Hi

Re: Lucy & Louisa - definitely not twins - see IGI records in my reply above

It's because of the rounding down of ages in 1841.  The families that had a child every year look as though they have triplets and twins in their households

This is the only IGI entry but birthyear does not match.  1851 shows son John as b Hurst

MATTHEW CRIPS   Christening:  21 MAR 1792   Hurst, Berkshire,
Father:  MATTHEW CRIPS   Mother:  ESTHER

MATTHEW CRIPS   Spouse:  ESTHER RANCE
Marriage:  17 JAN 1783   Hurst, Berkshire

Re: parish records and FindMyPast - I don't use FindMyPast so I'm not really sure what is available and whether it would be worth your while

Hi

Great more help!

The twins I thought were Louisa and Caleb but as you say dates on census not reliable.

You mention Parish Records.  How do I get hold of them?

Hi

All the IGI entries above are from parish records

Parish records are usually held in the records office of the appropriate area (Berkshire)

I do get a bit confused as I am searching so many places for different ancestors.  Probably the wrong way to work.  I have now received the Death Certificate for Matthew Cripps, Farm Labourer, 22.11.1866 Union Workhouse Wokingham age 70.
Sarah Cripps his wife, also died in a Workhouse, Wargrave, 4.11.1837 age 51.  I believe in those days the only hospitals for the poor were situated in Workhouses so it doesn't necessarily mean these people were living there.  It would be sad if they were separated for the last years of their lives.
