snap Woody  ;D

would you agree on looking for Mark Godden b. circa 1771 Not in Sussex (hopefully in Wiltshire) then

Would suggest you buy the death certificate to see who the informant was and if Mark was a Gardener

Do parish records show the parents of a couple getting married?

Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire and the County Offices are there.   It is a fairly large town for this county and at one time was very important for the manufacture of cloth and as a market town.   Have a look at http://www.trowbridge.gov.uk/

Normally in the earlier part of the 19th century and before, parents were not mentioned in the marriage records of parishes.   Sometimes a parent would be a witness (but with no indication of relationship) or occasionally the vicar MAY give some mention of parent(s) ,but this is very unusual.
