WRAF
« on: Monday 31 August 09 11:17 BST (UK) »
Hello

I have an ancestor who served with the WRAF during ww1.  I have looked online via the national archives for her record but she is not listed.

Her name was Nellie Bish no. 1623 taken from her marriage certificate in 1919.

Just wondered if any one knows who I need to contact so that I could obtain her record.

Thank you

The majority of WW1 records were destroyed during WW2, so it is entirely possible that you wont find anything official.  She certainly isnt listed on NA under Bish (her maiden name, i assume!).

There were some books written in the 1920's about the WRAF, but the chances of her being mentioned are slim.

Look for early dates of publication!

Good luck

Pete
