Unreadable name in will
« on: Tuesday 01 September 09 14:26 BST (UK) »
I have a will dated 1497 which mentions 3 daughters Marjorie, Alice and ?
I am quite good at reading old handwriting but this one has defeated me.
I paid to have the will downloaded from National Archives and I can't seem to find a way of uploading the particular line in the will on to here.
Does anyone know how I might do this, or have any other suggestions please?

From what I understand National Archives have made it impossible to copy any downloads from their site on grounds of copyright issues. Even irfanview didn't help.
It's extremely annoying.
(Of course it could be me, I freely admit to having only a very basic knowledge of pc mysteries)

You could use Print Screen, paste the image into Irfanview, then cut out the relevant bit. (Yell if you need help :) )

I can't see any objection to a very small portion being posted just for help with deciphering, I'm sure you wouldn't be the first person to do this.

I am amazed it worked, it took me quite a while to get it right.
Now all I need is for someone to work out the name if I am lucky.

Margery Alis and possibly Anthony but that's not really a daughter's name!  Third time lucky, going too fast!

I know that Tymothy/ie was a common girl's name at time so why not Anthony/ie?
