Hi,

I am not researching this family, but just had a look around for you.

If only the mother's name is on the birth cert, then it usually means the child is illegit.

The father's name given on te marriage cert -colud be his father's name or his grandfather's name or just a made up name to hide the illegitimacy.

Possibly his father was named Samuel James Wyatt -and never married Susan

I have found the birth reg for samuel james Wyatt tucker

but have you noticed the marriage reg (to Ann maria Cole) is listed as James Samuel W Tucker??

I think in 1891 he was going by the name james -in fact I think he is listed on most census as james

Do you have him on census - or would you like me to post my findings??

Who are the witnesses on marriage cert???

hi suz

thank you so much for the reply.

what you said about only the mothers name on the birth cert made me think also that the child could be illegit.

i have a copy of marriage cert in front of me and it says that witnesses were emily hyne jesland & m a revell.

like you say i think he was going by name of james, as i have not been researching my family history long it is making it a little confusing for me lol.

if you could you post census findings that would be so nice.

thank you for taking the time to help it is very much appreciated from me the novice lol

We all have to start somewhere - but you have started on what looks like a complicated one

Don't worry about possibility of illegit- it happened much more often than we think

I'll get the census together - please let me know if you think it is correct
