1851 Staffs look up
« on: Friday 04 September 09 08:33 BST (UK) »
Hi

Please can you help me locate John Carr in the 1851 census.  He was born about 1815 and his occupation was a potter.

Many thanks

Pauline   :)

Hi Pauline,

Where do you have his name from? Is it 1871, RG10/2848 77 49?

Checking the image, the name looks more like Parr to me, and they are Parr on earlier censuses (RG9/ 1926 104 23; HO107/2002 661 29) - are you still interested in them?  :P

Hi Tati

Terribly sorry. He was in London by 1851  - my mistake. What I need is him in 1841. He later claimed to be a Potter and he died in 1859 supposedly aged 40. He could have been married to Hannah by 1841. Unfortunately nothing can be relied on.

Hi
I haven't found him in the 1851 census and he was dead by the 1861 census.
I know he was in Southwark by 1843 from his son's Birth certificate but his eldest daughter was born in Staffordshire.
