Apologies for the quality - the original writing is very small (and the pink tinge!)
? answer of Christoper Same? Clerke to the bille
of subpena putt by Richard Siner and John Mychell
Any thoughts on his name?

Looking at the w in "thanswer" I wonder if it might not be Dawe but Dance? Or possibly Davie, but there's no dot for the i as far as I can see.
Just suggestions, I wouldn't rule out Dawe.
Do you think the first bit could be "This is"

Thanks for the kind words, Greensleeves, but it was a fluke really! I googled for "Christopher Dawe", and that's one of the things that came up.
Good to know that Google looks into the national archives catalogue, though.

Yes that's the document! I also note that if you go into the document details sometimes there are references to other documents. The 1402 French document I had says CPR p389 p422 at the bottom. I only noticed this after I found two further related entries after searching the Calendar of Patent Rolls. The penny finally dropped after I'd done it the hard way!
