Hi Anonemouse,

The images for St Aidan's marriages are on Family Search:

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0s7n/

Click marriages 1913-1919 and start browsing!  It will be towards the end of the image set, so start at the back and work forwards

Hope you find it
 :) Barbara

Hi,

Barbara is offline at the moment, but I am sure she won`t mind me answering.

The images only go up to 1924 sadly.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here.....this pointer may be of some small help if you get stuck!

You will probably already be aware of the great help that I got from members on this forum (Barbara on this thread) with my "Brick Wall".......

*the point possibly worth noting - when I was really, really stuck with my gf marriage confirmation search, I was informed that - all/any - notes made in the margins of original parish records DO NOT get sent over to RO when records are transcribed and compiled for what are now the "official" record of what took place!
The point being - when these records are re-printed anywhere else, including on any certificate that one may order through channels - you DO NOT get this/any extra information, and may in fact miss your target because of this.

I was advised to go and see the original record at Central Library (currently closed for refurbishing and updating) - which I did, this is what I found and allowed me to take a step further forward.

I was looking for a record of marriage - my gf James Monaghan x Edith Gallop, I knew the likely time frame thanks to James Army records (see earlier in this thread).  On my visit to the Central Library Official records I found the correct marriage record - which was originally recorded as James Mulligan etc etc - but more importantly, in the margin was the amendment - for MULLIGAN read MONAGHAN, a signed numbered and dated amendment, by the vicar, father or ......
* on ordering the cert - I still got "only the original information" - without any amendments, so I have a Monaghan still listed as a MULLIGAN!

Hope this is of some help to others - it certainly helped me!

Thanks Siralli
I guess I can wait. They are not going anywhere and can make the trip to the library when they re-open to view the original. Now that I have the details and where, the event took place I had spent a while searching for a re marriage of a widow with the first husbands name, not thinking her last husband was not her second marriage....
