You can try the Irish civil registration index at Family search.org - I had a quick look but couldn't find a death for Ann Rainsford in Castlecomer District between 1920 and 1958 . However if she wasn't living in that reg district when she died you would have to search the other reg. districts in Kilkenny - that is assuming she died in that county.

I found a little bit more about Annie Foley.

Namely these - baptism/christening place:   THOMASTOWN, KILK, IRE
birth date:   27 Nov 1872
father's name:   Edward Foley
mother's name:   Judith Dunne

I think Judith Dunne married in Thomastown Kilkenny also in 1869...
Still trying to find this out. However it does look plausible.

Still no luck finding Annie Foley / Rainsford Death year.

Hope all this helps out.

Thanks again. The Foleys I have quite a deal of info on. Edward was christened the 16 July 1834 in Bennetsbridge (Thomastown Parish) the 9th child of Denis Foley and Ellen Mangan. 3 of his brothers and a sister migrated to Australia leaving the rest in Bennetsbridge. Sadly there are no family members left in Bennetsbridge today and finding out where they moved on to has proved challenging.

Hi there,
i got the marriage cert of George Rainsford and Annie Foley.
They married on 23 Oct 1919.
There is a surprise on the marriage cert = it says her father is 'Michael Foley who was a Miner'.

This doesn't ring through with all the other stuff I found saying she was daughter to Edward Foley a farmer.

However I am more than convinced this Annie Foley is the one whose father is Edward Foley.

I must admit it baffled me somewhat.

UPDATE - I found this Annie Foley was born in 1902 or 1903 and died in 1965. She was married to George Rainsford in 1919.

Any more updates I will let you know.

Regards

Hi
Would a John Foley and his father also John Foley in Youghal Co. Cork have any connections to your Foley family?
Thanks
Linda

Hi linda,
i'm not sure. I looked up the 1901/1911 Irish Census for youghal cork. I found it hard to find a link.

I do know that i have good info for Annie Foley above. Her birth and father Edward Foley etc
I know Annie married George above.

The Big Problem however was on the marriage cert of 1919 it had a Michael Foley as her father.
I'm sure this is wrong on the cert, as everything else adds up - location in Kilkenny, location of George in Castlecomer, and where the spent their married life.

So all this is proven.
I will have to find out WHY the name is different on the marriage cert.
Then again I could be wrong.

Hi there
I found that Annie Foley was born in 1902 or 1903. She married George Rainsford in 1919, aged 17.
She died in 1965.
So she is not the Annie Foley from Bennetsbridge as I thought initially.

Any updates I will let u know.

Is there something here?

Have recently come upon family's genealogical records. I have an Ellen Foley daughter of Judith Dunne and Edward Foley of Bennetsbridge. Ellen married Thomas D. Sullivan around 1885 and they headed to the States making Ellen my gg-grandmother.
