William HANDLEY marriage to Elizabeth?
« on: Sunday 13 September 09 11:05 BST (UK) »
Hello all

I am trying to trace the marriage of William Handley to Elizabeth ?.

She was born in Bromyard in about 1779 [from the census] and died in 1857.

Their first child I believe was born in about 1799.

Thank you

Wendy :)

I have just discovered a marriage in Worcester so posted a message on that board too.

Hi Wendy,

sorry I don't have the answer for you, but in case no else has immediate access to those records, I wondered if you knew about the Bromyard local history society
www.bromyardhistorysociety.org.uk

They have a fantastic resource centre in Bromyard (open Thurs, Fri and Sat) and can be contacted by phone or email too.  I'm sure they would have the answer.

Re William Handley Elizabeth Brown

I note that you have some knowledge of the above and their family and I am wondering if you know anything about their firstborn, Mary Handley born in 1798.  I know that she married a Thomas Edwards in July 1822 and they had several children.  The two eldest were Joseph and Sarah who were both given the middle name of Talbot and I am interested if anyone knows where this talbot name came from! Thank you :)

Hello st1826

I'm afraid I have no Information regarding Mary Handley except she was [I believe] the second child of William and Elizabeth's eleven children.

Henry was christened in 1815 but according to the 1851 census in Middlesex [ HO107/ Piece/ 1489/ Folio/ 240/ Page/ 15] he was b in c1796.

My ancestor was John Handley b 1799.
I presume you have the marriage of William to Elizabeth?

Please get in touch if you wish and welcome to Rootschat.

Hi there,

I was wondering, is your William Handley the same as the one born 1779 in Nighton on Teme, Worcestershire? I am new to geneology and we come from his daughter Joyce. Just wondering if he could be the same as I saw from the census his wife was Elizabeth.

Many thanks,

Rue

Hi Rue

Welcome to Rootschat and genealogy - you will be hooked!!

I don't think my William is the same one as yours as I have no dau for him called Joyce.
I know very little about him as I believe he died in Bromyard, Herefordshire in 1837. All the children I have were born in Bromyard from 1796 - 1824.
I have no confirmed marriage but there is one in Worcester to Elizabeth Brown.

Regards Wendy
