Birth certificate missing?
« on: Friday 18 September 09 14:39 BST (UK) »
I recently found on the family search record search {BDM} what I believe to be a family birth, the details being.
Martha Radcliffe birth Apr-Jun 1921 Londonderry Registration I duly sent my remittance to Groni looking forward to receiving a copy  details instead I get back a slip saying no entry corrosponding with details given.for year 1920 to 1925 Surely if LDS transcribed this detail the body must exist. Any Thoughts?

I'm assuming you gave them the volume and page number and that it was Londonderry registration district, not just Co Londonderry?

If so, I see 2 possible problems:-

EITHER, the birth took place in the part of Londonderry Registration district which is in Co Donegal and so GRONI doesn't have the original registration (you would need to try Roscommon GRO if that's the case);

OR they looked up the death registrations rather than the birth ones! - maybe worth writing back asking them to check if that's the case (don't mention you got the page/volume details from the familysearch website or they'll just put it down to a transcription error without checking!!)

There's another possibility- did you include ONLY name, year/quarter, registration districtm, volume, page and NOTHING else? If you add other items from LDS index (image number, etc.) they seem to reject the applications.

Hi
I've had a similar problem with my 2x greatgrandfather.  I applied with his exact death date which was quoted on an extract from the Irish Wills Calendars.  I thought great ;D and applied for his death certificate.  My reply from GRONI was:
Either the information was inaccurate, the event did not take place in NI or the event was not registered.  I'm not sure how the info on the administration of a will was incorrect but I still have found no record of his death....or a gravestone either :(
I'm not sure what the answer is here either.

If the event took place in Co. Londonderry (Northern Ireland) in 1922 then you have to send to GRONI (Belfast) not GRO (Roscommon) for the certificate. However, the LDS index to civil registration does give volume and page numbers needed.

Agadowey if you look at the lds Pilot search it definately shows Martha Radcliffe 1921 April- June registration district Londonderry{ Donegal or Derry Ireland }. Ihave seen this before were it does not show vol/page.  Do you want to move this?

If you click on the link in the search results it will give you the volume and page number.
