Can anyone help me rattle a skeleton? HILSDEN/TUDOR in New York

Hi there

The sister of my great-grandfather, Nelly Henrietta L Hilsden (b.1878 Bucks) travelled to New York, and married a man named John Tudor. 

I have her on a passenger list (Canadian I think...) in 1920, then in the US fed Census in 1920 living in Jamaica, Queens New York.  I believe she actually got married in 1921, but have no marriage record for her.

John Tudor apparently died around 1960 (have no record of that) and Nelly died in Canada, I have no date for that either!

Nellie's sister Selina lived in Canada, as did several cousins and in his later life, her father as well.

Family legend suggests, that on one trip back to the UK, Nelly was afraid for her  and her husbands life.  Although I noted the residence and dates of the US census, I have lost the copy doc I had from Ancestry...is anyone cen help me with that.

But can anyone help point me in directions that would discover more about this couple?  Sadly they had no children.

Merjones....that's a LOT of info...so he was married before, and had children before....

Can you tell me where you found all this info?  This is brilliant...no sign of their skeleton though...and if he was just a carpenter...can't see nything sinister in that! lol

Hi there again

With help of my sisters cc I have joined the ancestry world for a time, and I have found most of the above records myself, so thank you for that. 

I have a couple more questions...if anyone can help:

Where would I be able to find their marriage record?  In the 1930 census, it records that she married at the age of 43, which would mean she married John Tudor in 1921.  However, when she first came over she went to regina SK, Canada to her sister (1920 ships list).  So no border crossing to be found either?

Are there any other records available anywhere else, that could help me build up a picture after 1930?

I cannot understand why she went to BC Canada and died there...when family lived in other areas of Canada quite a distance from BC.
