Help with Welsh town name please
« on: Sunday 20 September 09 13:10 BST (UK) »
Hello Welsh Rootschatters,

Could someone help with a place name please.  1881 Cenus R11/5324 Aberdare Page 24.
First family on page
David Whitney born ?

Transcription says Llansamer but I can't find that on the map.  Has it been mis transcribed?

Many thanks
LC

Hi

The 1861 record shows Lansanner, I would suspect this is actually Llansanor which is near Cowbridge.  The 1871 census shows Cowbridge and his occupation is a Police constable married to Ann so I suspect that Llansanor is your answer ....
Powell - Ton Pentre
Phillips - Llwynypia
Howell - Llannon/Llwynypia/Cardiff/Pennsylvania,USA
Ungoeds - Llannon,Carmarthenshire/Australia

Hi LC,

On the 1851 census he is living with his family in Llanblethian and  his birth place is also given as Llanblethian which is  very near Cowbridge.
