.looking for birth and death date

 On the 1861 census James Rowland age 48 is living in Manchester with his wife Elizabeth and 2 sons,on the 1871 census Elizabeth is a widow,i am trying to find out when James died and his date of birth so we can start to look for his parents.

He didnt marry his Step daughter did he? or are the names coincidence? (ref Elizabeth Jennings 10 year old step-dau 1861)

We think Elizer is Elizabeths  illegitimate daughter,or she has been married before to a  Mr Jennings,if she has not been  married before,that gives us Elizabeths single name.

IF ?  james has given his right age on the census the only one from the manchester area for 1840 is

DEC QTR 1840 JAMES ROWLAND   SALFORD  20 67

death..nearest age wise
SEP QTR 1912 aged 73 ROWLAND JAMES      ASHTON   8d 743     (dec 40 to sep 1912 would only make him 71)

can`t see any other from Manchester area that come close to these 2....
