John WOODLEY - occupation Tanner
« on: Monday 28 September 09 01:31 BST (UK) »
Hi,

while we are on the subject of WOODLEY, I have had no luck tracing John WOODLEY.

Shipping records show that his son, James, native place, Hungerford, emigrated to australia in 1841, giving his parents as John & Sarah WOODLEY (both dead).

Person supplying James registry of baptism was Wm Edgell, curate.
Person attesting to James character was Lieut Gen Blount???

From IGI have found births for James 1807 & two sisters, Elizabeth 1805 & Harriet 1808 in Hungerford.

Have come across the marriage of a John WOODLEY to a Sarah PRYOR in Harwell but they don't appear to be my John & Sarah.

Had a look at the LDS Hungerford Parish film but could not find a marriage between a John WOODLEY and Sarah.

Could anyone offer advice or assistance please?

All the best,
Bob (in Australia)

Sorry, further to John WOODLEY.

On his son, James' death cert. it shows that John was a Tanner.
