searching for webbs in northampton
« on: Monday 28 September 09 15:57 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to find our Webb history in Northampton England and beyond. I was given some information a few years ago about my 6th grandparents back their birth places were not listed  but their marriage was. I have tried to research both their names and have had no luck finding any information, which has also made me confused about towns and places. JOHN WEBB was born c.1765 where? and died 6th april 1825, he married ANN DICKS born c. 1769 where? the marriage as noted was 1790 at Brington northampton. the only child given at that time was HENRY CHARLES WEBB.

while trying to research the names i did find Charles Webb through the Branson family line and have also discovered over time through LDS site more children of John and Ann but no other information about them. doing internet research in northampton has confused me with little Brington and Great Brington, I cant work out if these are the same place or diffrent, and i have not found any information of these webb being there. I am getting abit lost as to where to keep looking for these relations and was wondering if anyone could possibly help.

The marriage between John Webb bachelor of this parish and Ann Dicks spinster of Brockhall took place at Brington on 6th December 1790. It was by licence.

Just because it says Ann was of Brockhall that only means she was living there at the time of the marriage, it doesn't prove she was born there.

This is Wiki about Brockhall.

I haven't got access to baptism registers so I can't help with that.

There is some submitted information on Familysearch, looks like they couldn't find Ann's baptism either.

The Parish Church of Great Brington served Little Brington and Nobottle
besides the above Parish.

The places themselves where/are 3 individual villages.

James Dicks of Brockhall married Martha Bird of Everdon at Everdon on 7th May 1790 by licence.
My record doesn't give their marital status, but Ann's brother maybe?

Joseph Dunckley married Dorcas Clerke, both of Long Buckby at Brockhall on 1st Oct 1752 by licence.

May just turn out to be a relative of Ann.

Hi Trish.  :)

I think tmisty something is not quite right here or I am in-correct.

I think we are out 10 years on the ages for both Ann and John.

Therefore the baptisms below are possible.

Ann Dix was baptised at Brockhall to
James and Mary on the 8th Mar 1752

John Web was baptised at Church Brampton
to Thomas and Elizabeth on the 4th  Feb 1753.
