Looking for BAIN in Amble.

I am interested to know if anyone has details of a BAIN family who lived in Amble in the late 1880s- early 1900s.  Ann BAIN and her sons, John, Robert, George and Thomas moved there in the 1880s and show up on the census in 1991, 1901 and 1911.  I am keen to find out if any of the sons ever married and carried on the BAIN line down this branch of the family.

Have you checked freebmd for any marriages as transcriptions cover to around the early 1930's

Does that mean you have searched the marriages on FreeBMD site ?

Did you eliminate the Thomas Bain whose marriage was registered in the Alnwick Registration District in the March Quarter of 1911  ( Although I can see the Ann/Robert Bain family on censuses 1881-1901, I do not know the constitution of the household on 1911 census ! )

( Amble, Warworth, Craster lay within the Alnwick RD)

 However it is possible that one of hers sons married outside the Alnwick Reg District !

Yes, I have looked at the FreeBMD listings and tentatively eliminated this marriage because Ann and two of her sons (including Thomas) are still resident together in 1911 with no mention or sign of of wives.  I agree that they or the others may well have married and settled outside the district, but it becomes rather expensive to explore this by ordering marriage certificates, as there are many Bains around nationally.  One of the others (John) was a master mariner (therefore likely at sea on census night) and still single in 1901; the other (Robert) probably died in 1878.  And for the present time widescale survey of the 1911 census is also expensive.  Hence the posting and query about later possible marriages.  Seems rather sad if not one of the 4 found a partner.

 I saw the deaths of Robert senior and Robert junior in 1876 and 1878.

So is Thomas, aged c37,  classified as single on 1911 census ?

The places I research for my tree ( on line and in libraries etc) are open
 to all others, including you. And I think I like buying copy certificates, less than you.  There are some ways of determining info, without buying certs ( e.g. church records, children naming patterns, GRO iindexes- including those on FreeBMD and beyond, etc)
