Baptisms - Only 4 in 17 Years ?
« on: Wednesday 30 September 09 00:07 BST (UK) »
Looking at children of John and Fanny (Frances) Dickinson in Newton on Trent between 1755 (ish) and 1775 (ish)

Have found four

Jane 1758
John 1762
Tobias 1768
George 1775

Why no others ? Why only 4 over a 17 year span ?

Could it be others not baptised ? Or perhaps just baptised in another Parish/Deanery ? Perhaps Fanny/Frances not of Corringham Deanery ?

Help/Opinion appreciated
Benn (Yorkshire), Cock (Ashill, Norfolk), Dickinson (Newton on Trent and Saxilby, Lincolnshire)  Rhodes (Yorkshire), Tew (Shropshire/Staffordshire), Wilks (Yorkshire)

Perhaps they moved away from Newton on Trent and then came back again?

There are two other parishes within spitting distance of Newton on Trent, i.e. Kettlethorpe which is in Lincolnshire and Dunham on Trent just over the river in Nottinghamshire.  Have you looked there?

Could of course be either movement or family fertility problems. My great grandparents had 11 children, according to 1911 census 6 survived, checking a relative in the 1911 census for this purpose might give a clue if there are underlying fertility problems, or if they did die or miscarry might just be due to bad living conditions.
