thanks.  i think getting his birth cert is my best option as thers some confusion on weather  his father was a joseph or a william.

lol are you sure his name is not Joseph William Soulsby born 1875?
Josephs father William Mother Frances, there are a couple of other options but Joseph William seems to be a family name,
