JERSEY MARRIAGE LOOK UP: 1882 Approx
« on: Thursday 01 October 09 13:18 BST (UK) »
I am researching the marriage of Mary Ann Saltern born in St Helier, Jersey in 1858.
Her father was Philip Samuel Saltern.

She married William Herbert Freeman probably in October/November/December 1882.
William was born in 1862 in England and was a Private in the 2nd Battalion 12th Regiment of Foot (Suffolk Regiment) stationed in the Fort Regent Barracks at the time.

Can anyone please look up the marriage details as I need to trace where William Herbert Freeman was born. Thank you so much.

Hi Tony

The index entry to allow you to order a certificate is:

Mary Ann Saltern, St Helier Church Marriages, Sept 1880 to Aug 1884, page 59.

The is a William Freeman on the same page.

Stewart,
Thank you so much for the information.
I have been stuck at this point for months and this will now let me trace William further back.
As a matter of interest, they had a son and a daughter and all travelled to India for William to fight on the North West Frontier. However, he died of cholera and she had to marry or fall into poverty in India. She married a friend in the same regiment and eventually settled in Colchester and had three more children.
Best regards, Tony Freeman

I see that Tony Freeman is looking for information on  the Marriage of Mary Ann Saltern to William Freeman.
These are my Great grandparents.  I have only just started doing research but I do have a copy of  a birth certificate for Daisy Hilda being there daughter born in 1886 in St Helier.

Hi Tony,  Thanks for your prompt reply.  My name is Sue White and my email address is (*).  My mother, Violet Ena was the daughter of Daisy and she always told me her sister died at an early age.  She never mentioned any other siblings.
Hope to converse with you soon.
Kind regards Sue

Thanks once again.  I assume  Daisy Hilda had a brother and that is why we potentially have the same great grandparents.  Hopefully i will be able to let you know my email address next time.
